We came across this bench perched atop a levee after touring the devastation of the Ninth Ward in New Orleans, and it fit our somber mood quite well… although at the same time the deep greens and the moody sky remind me of what I’ve always imagined Ireland to be like, so maybe there’s a message of hope there as well. 🙂

Behind us is the sparsely-populated Ninth Ward, and the bench is looking over the shipping canal, an industrial district, and downtown New Orleans.
