Are you looking for a new smartphone? It can be quite the search; with so many different options out there, you really have to know what you’re looking for! These days, you can get a great quality smart phone for way less than in the past, so your options are quite endless. So just follow these tips to help navigate the world of smartphone shopping:
Android or iPhone?
The first main decision that you’ll need to make when picking out a new smartphone is whether to get an Android or an iPhone. Both options have pros and cons, and often it just comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer the iOS (iPhone) because it’s quite user friendly and they’re familiar with the interface. These types of phone also tend to have very good quality cameras. But with an Android, you can generally enjoy far more options than with an iPhone. And the problem with an iPhone is that you are usually locked into a particular plan, unable to use your phone if you go abroad unless you get it jailbroken.
What are your main purposes?
When you buy a new smartphone, consider what is the most important to you. Do you want your phone to double as your camera? Then make sure you’re getting something with an adequate amount of megapixels to take great photos. Will you mainly be using your phone just for talking, or do you want to have a good screen for emails and writing? Do you want to read books on your phone, and listen to music, or have a device that can do all of these things well? And of course, the price point will come into play. The Nokia Lumia 930 is a great option if you’re looking for an excellent balance of all of these things and even more.
If you buy your phone from a service provider, you may get the phone for very cheap or even free when you purchase your plan. But keep in mind that your phone may be locked into this plan (as with the iPhone.) Alternatively, you can buy an Android phone from the manufacturer and pick your own plan independently. In this case, you may pay full retail value for the phone but you’ll have far more freedom when it comes to your service plan, and you can travel with your phone and use SIM cards abroad.
