I love to travel and traveling is all about what happens on the way. Great places really add to traveling and today I am going to talk about some of my greatest travel experiences in Asia, so read on to find out more about some of the best things that I have experienced in one of my favourite corners of the world.
Get onto the open water in Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay is a great place to seek adventure and to explore by chartering a boat. The beautiful emerald waters are home to about 1600 small islands that are formed out of limestone. This makes exploring the hidden coves and inlets of the island very possible and is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the more crowded tourist areas.. Scuba diving is also a huge thing here and there is just so much to see.
Visit Angkor Wat
This magical 12th century temple is a place that you will never forget, it is seriously like being in a time warp. The massive towers of this place have an amazing detail that really distinguishes it from the forested landscape. The best way to see the temple is of course at sunset, where the moat reflects the sunlight and people in their thousands attempt to take the perfect photograph. The sunlight really brings this ancient temple to life and I know many people that went there every day that they were in Siem Reap.
Climb the Great Wall of China
No list about the best travel experiences in Asia would be complete without including the Great Wall, because it is the largest man made structure on earth! It elegantly winds its way through many of the different landscapes of China and is steeped in history. In fact the wall itself was not a single project, but a continuous one by many different dynasties over about 2000 years! Of course, this makes climbing the wall a must do experience in Asia and it guarantees a once in a lifetime holiday to China.
Visit the Mekong Delta
The Mekong River is the lifeblood of Vietnam and the mouth of the river offers an extraordinary landscape that is unlike any other river delta in the world. The sight of endless rice paddies and floating markets is something to behold. The delta offers many places to explore like pagodas and villages that rely on the river to survive. Navigating this most interesting place is one of my favourite things that I have ever done in Asia.
